Sometimes My Head Explodes is an ongoing collection of sketchbooks. The sketchbooks are made from discarded library books and incorporate a variety of found objects, drawings, and writings. These sketchbooks act as both journal and scrapbook capturing my thoughts and activities since 2012.
Inspired by 1000 Artist Journal Pages by Dawn DeVries Sokol, I've spent a lot of time learning how to keep a sketchbook and what the best system was for me. In the beginning I moved back and forth between traditional hard covered white paged sketchbooks and the library books before officially moving to only library books in 2013. Now my sketchbooks have become the one thing I don't leave the house without. They have developed into their own form of art practice just as much as my other work if not more.
